Car parking up the Ashby

Connie and I are planning a run up the Ashby in early September. Due to
Councillor Mrs Evans' local government commitments in Sussex, we'll need to
leave a car somewhere near Shakerstone, unless there's a car park at the
limit of navigation. Can anyone advise on known possible parking places
please? Connie will be going back to Sussex while I either idle my time
away or dawdle back towards WFB and the Cutweb rally.

Cheers

Guy, during our first venture on the Cut, we arranged to meet my cousin at
Shakerstone, and convey he and his wife back down the Ashby. If I remember
correctly, he arranged with the Rising Sun pub -- a mere five minutes walk
from the canal--to leave one car there, having already left the other car at
the Corner House Hotel, near Bridge 5. The stay was, I believe, just over
the weekend, from Friday night to Sunday night. the nosh was pretty good at
both pubs.

Rising Sun's phone no. (from Nicholson's) is 01827 880215. Usual
disclaimer--no relation to either business, just a satisfied customer.

cheers,

Phil,

Thank you Phil. i'd forgottewn the name of the pub and it's really useful
to know that they will allow a car to be left there.

Cheers
